Three additional honorees have been announced for the Texas Medal of the Arts Awards, with actor Matthew McConaughey leading the pack along with the photographer Mark Seliger and artist Trenton Doyle Hancock.
In February, the three iconic artists will be honored and will join previously announced honorees, including designer Brandon Maxwell, architects Craig Dykers and Elaine Molinar, and writer Stephen Harrington.
Matthew McConaughey, a native of Uvalde, happens to be more popular in the whole bunch of honorees. He attended his high school in Longview and later migrated to the University of Texas. He started acting in Austin and rose to prominence with his role in the 1993’s ensemble comedy film ‘Dazed and Confused’, directed by Richard Link later.
Mark Seliger was born in Amarillo, but later in the 60s, moved to Houston along with his family. He developed interest in photography, while he was in high school at the Performing and Visual Arts. He advanced his photography studies in East Texas State. For more than three decades now, Seliger has spent his time majorly as a photographer for popular magazine brands, including Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, and GQ, and hasshot all sorts of covers that are instantly for the magazines.
Trent Doyle Hancock is an artist residing in Texas.However, he grew up in the French capital Paris. His work has been exhibited in different museums around the country. Also including his exhibition at the Contemporary Arts Museum in 2014. His pieces can be found in the permanent collection at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and also in the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, both of which are located in New York.
The Texas Medal of Arts Awards is a biennial occasion which started in the year 2001 and was created by the Texas Cultural Trust.
